Today was family shirt day! We knew we wanted to stay late for the fireworks so we didn't wake the kids in the morning and just let them wake on their own. This landed us at the park around 10. First thing we did was Tomorrowland Speedway. Up to this point, Benson hadn't gone #2 so the night before I added a few things to his tubie mix to get things moving again. I apparently over did things a little. I think Benson would have enjoyed this ride much more if he hadn't been so concerned with holding things in. I felt really bad and we ended up going to the bathroom 8 times today! I rode with Vanessa and Brigham and when we got to the end, Brigham was pitching a fit that he didn't get to drive. So they let our whole family just stay in and go again so Brigham could drive. After this we did the Space Ranger Spin, the one where you have a little laser gun and shoot Zurg through the ride. Brigham wouldn't touch the gun so I just held him and kind of shot around. We'll keep that as the reason for my score ;)
We also checked out Adventureland a little more and went over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Right before this we also happened to run into another little boy with a power chair. He also had SMA. It was fun for Benson to talk with this little boy. I think it is probably the first kid he remembers meeting with type 2. He remembers meeting a couple type 1s, but their life look a lot different than Benson's. Jon and Vanessa rode Thunder Mountain. Which of course, since it was a roller coaster, she loved it.
We took the boys on their first roller coaster, the Barnstormer. Benson loved it and Brigham cried and held me in a death grip the entire time. We tried two different treats, the ever famous Dole Whip and some kind of fruity slush from Gaston's Tavern. It may have been all the hype surrounding the Dole Whip, but I was disappointed and probably wouldn't ever get it again. The slush was awesome though and I would get that again for sure.
We saw the afternoon parade again so Vanessa and Brigham could watch and then we camped for a spot for the light parade and fireworks. Brigham was pretty sick by this point and did a lot of sleeping in the stroller. He coughed so hard he puked on me at one point and we had to watch his fever closely. It's one of those tough parenting decisions when you can never decide whether to just keep them there or take them back to the room.
When we headed back to the room for the night, all of them were asleep. Jon had brought a lanyard to pull Benson's power chair because we had anticipated this would happen at some point. I tried to take pictures but it was so dark, you can't see the string. But you can tell Benson is completely asleep.
